Privacy Policy
1. What stays on your device
Without an account, everything you create in Wayfact (trips, stops, notes, packing lists, documents, photos and videos) is saved only on your device (in your browser’s storage on the web). We cannot see it and it is not sent to us.
2. Information we collect when you use an account or share a trip
| Information | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name and email address | You create an account | To sign you in and show your name to the people on your trips. |
| Password | You create an account | To sign you in. It is stored only as a salted hash by our authentication provider. We can’t read it. |
| Trip contents: title, dates, stops and notes, place names, packing items | You share a trip or join one | So everyone on the trip sees the same plan and changes sync. |
| Photos and videos (photos are resized before upload) | You add them to a shared trip | To show them to the people on that trip and in recap videos. |
| Documents: booking confirmations, tickets, PDFs and images, and the details you type about them | You add them to a shared trip | To keep trip papers together. A document marked Only me is visible only to you, never to other members. |
| Reports about content (which item, the reason you picked, your optional note, and the trip) | You report a photo, video, document or stop that another member added | To review it and remove content or accounts that break the Terms. The person you reported is not told who reported them. Your reports are deleted with your account. |
| Invite codes and trip membership (who is on which trip, and when they joined) | You invite or join | To control who can open a trip. |
| Technical data such as IP address and request logs | Whenever the app talks to our servers | Security, abuse prevention and keeping the service running. Kept by our hosting provider for a limited time. |
Photos or documents you upload may contain personal information (for example a name on a ticket, or location data embedded in a photo). Only upload what you’re comfortable sharing with the people on that trip. We don’t read your uploads for any purpose.
3. Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your precise or approximate location. Wayfact does not ask for location permission.
- We do not collect contacts, browsing history, advertising identifiers, health or financial information, or payment details.
- We include no advertising, analytics, attribution or crash-reporting libraries, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
4. Facts and pictures from Wikimedia
To show facts and pictures, the app sends the place name you typed for a stop (for example “Copenhagen”) to the public Wikipedia, Wikivoyage and Wikimedia Commons services run by the Wikimedia Foundation. No account details or identifiers are sent, but as with any web request, Wikimedia can see your device’s IP address and the app’s name and version. See the Wikimedia Privacy Policy. Text from Wikipedia and Wikivoyage is under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license; pictures carry their own licenses, shown in the app.
5. Device permissions
- Photos and videos: only when you choose to add items to a stop. We use the system picker and receive only what you choose.
- Camera and microphone: only when you take a photo or film a video inside the app. You can refuse and still use the app.
- Files: only when you choose a document to attach.
6. Who can see your information
- People on your trips. Members of a shared trip can see its stops, photos, videos, shared documents, and the names of the other members. They can’t see your email address.
- Our service provider. We use Supabase, Inc. to host accounts, the database and file storage. It processes data on our behalf under its terms and does not use it for its own purposes. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored in a private, access-controlled bucket; media is served through short-lived signed links. Hosting region: East US (N. Virginia), United States.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect people’s safety or our rights.
- We do not sell or rent your information, and do not share it for advertising.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account and trip data until you delete it. Invite codes expire after 14 days. When you delete your account (see below) we remove your data promptly; backups held by our hosting provider expire on its normal schedule, within about 30 days.
8. Your choices and deleting your account
In the app: open Your account and tap Delete my account. By email: write to shane@utah-elite-cleaning.com from your account address. Details are on the support page. Deleting your account removes your profile, the trips you own (for everyone on them), and the photos, videos and documents you added to other people’s trips. Stops and packing items you typed into other people’s trips remain on those trips without a link to you.
You can also remove individual photos, videos, documents and stops in the app, leave a trip, or use Wayfact without an account.
Depending on where you live (for example California, other U.S. states, the EEA or the UK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your information, or to object to certain processing. Email us and we’ll respond within 30 days. We don’t discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.
9. Children
Wayfact is not directed to children under 13 and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we’ll delete it.
10. Security
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, per-trip access rules enforced in the database, private storage, and expiring links. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
11. International users
Our servers may be located in the United States or another country, so your information may be transferred there.
12. Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
